Obama Vs. Limbaugh
It seems, to no surprise, that President Obama isn't Rush Limbaugh's biggest fan. When the president was asked if he would play a round of golf with talk-radio nemesis Rush Limbaugh, the response, relayed by a top Democrat, was: "Limbaugh can play with himself." The news is according to Zev Chafets in his new book, "Rush Limbaugh: An Army of One," due May 25. This isn't the first time President Obama and Limbaugh bumped heads. In an interview with CBS News last month, Obama called the views spelled out by Limbaugh and Fox News Channel's Glenn Beck "troublesome." [NY Post]

Rush Being Rush
And here's a gem from Rush Limbaugh yesterday. In the aftermath of the oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico, Rush had an interesting take on what might have actually happened.
Rush's conspiracy theory: "Environmentalist whackos" may have blown up oil rig to "head off more oil drilling." Seriously. [Media Matters]

Limbaugh Loves Universal Health Care
Sigh. Cancel your crabcakes order with the caterer and shelve the champagne back in the fridge - the Bon Voyage Rush party is canceled. Yesterday, we were all abuzz after Rush Limbaugh announced that, if health care reform passed, he was going to Costa Rica. Today he backtracked, saying he didn't mean he was moving there, just that he'd go there for his health care. Why this is amusing: Costa Rica has Universal Health Care that covers everying, in part with help from their government which actually owns hospitals and clinics. And most Costa Ricans get their health care coverage through a plan called the Caja - which is very similar to, you guessed it, the public option. [ThinkProgress]

Romney Stands up to Rush…Wait, Nope.
And just in case you thought maybe Mitt Romney wasn't running for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2012, there's this:
Last month, Rush Limbaugh criticized Mitt Romney for endorsing Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in his campaign against J.D. Hayworth in Arizona’s GOP Senate primary. “I think he’s risking his career over a guy, endorsing McCain, who is so out of step with what’s going on right now,” Limbaugh complained. Today, though, Newsmax asked Romney about Limbaugh’s criticism in a new interview. But while Romney stuck to his position, he couldn’t help but seize the moment to pander, saying, "Well, you know, I find it hard to disagree with Rush Limbaugh on topics..." [ThinkProgress]

Quote of the Day
On health care reform: "I’ll just tell you this, if this passes and it’s five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented — I am leaving the country. I’ll go to Costa Rica." --Rush Limbaugh. You know, that should be all the motivation progressives need to get health care reform passed. [TP]
