“Carry My Luggage” the new “Wide Stance”

Meet George Rekers, Baptist minister and co-founder (with James Dobson) of the anti-gay activist Family Research Council. Rekers is also a prominent voice in the anti-gay adoption movement. Rekers is also the guy who was just busted at the airport, returning from a 10-day vacation in Europe with a male prostitute he met through RentBoy.com. Rekers says, yes, he met "Lucien" online but had only hired him to help carry his suitcases. Lucien's ad didn't mention his luggage-toting skills, but did tout his other, NSFW attributes. Right-wing California state Sen. Roy Ashburn has long been known as a fierce opponent of gay rights, voting against "efforts to expand anti-discrimination laws and recognize out-of-state gay marriages" and opposing the creation of a day to honor Harvey Milk. After getting busted with a DUI in front of a popular gay bar, Sen. Ashburn has also admitted this week that he is gay. The 55-year-old father of four told a local radio show "I am gay ... those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long" and asked people to pray for him. [Huffington Post]
