Cashing In

President Barack Obama released his financial disclosure statement late yesterday, and there were some interesting takeaways. Bo, the Portuguese water dog which was a gift from the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, was valued at $1,600 on the financial disclosure form, while the president raked in between $1 million and $5 million each from his books, "Dreams From My Father" and "Audacity of Hope." There was also $1.4 million from winning the Nobel Peace Prize, which the president donated to charity. [Huff Post]

Obama Vs. Limbaugh

It seems, to no surprise, that President Obama isn't Rush Limbaugh's biggest fan. When the president was asked if he would play a round of golf with talk-radio nemesis Rush Limbaugh, the response, relayed by a top Democrat, was: "Limbaugh can play with himself." The news is according to Zev Chafets in his new book, "Rush Limbaugh: An Army of One," due May 25. This isn't the first time President Obama and Limbaugh bumped heads. In an interview with CBS News last month, Obama called the views spelled out by Limbaugh and Fox News Channel's Glenn Beck "troublesome." [NY Post]

Grant Me Clemency

At this point in office, President Obama has received more petitions for pardons and shorter prison sentences than any previous president, and he hasn't approved a single one. According to the Justice Department, President Obama has already logged 2.361 clemency petitions, but faces a backlog of 2,173 old requests. Not since Gerald Ford, who approved more than 150 clemency petitions in his first year in office, has a president granted mercy more than 10 times early in his presidential term. [USA T]

Dear John

A letter written by former President John Quincy Adams was found this week in a dusty box in a Massachusetts city hall's basement. The letter, which was dated Sept. 8, 1826, outlines the burial wishes of his father, President John Adams. Adams wrote that his father and his mother, Abigail Adams, wished to be buried in the First Parish Church, and that a "plain and modest monument" be built in their memory. [CBS News]

Tick-Tock Around The POTUS Clock

President Obama travels nearly every week on Air Force One, but what exactly does he do to occupy his time on board? According to Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton, here's how he fills it: Receiving briefings from staff, reading issue briefings and other various materials, playing spades, surfing the web for news, calling various staff members, or occasionally watching movies or television shows. Oh, the life of a president.[Washington Post]

Obama Books Galore

The White House has become frustrated with authors and journalists, who are trying to get behind-the-scenes details for their upcoming book releases, reports the Washington Post. The media blitz has created confusion and complication for top aides, who of course, are more worried about running their country, then providing inside information. New books are coming from Newsweek's Jonathan Alter, NBC's Chuck Todd, MSNBC's Richard Wolffe, The Washington Post's Bob Woodward and David Maraniss, the New York Times' Jodi Kantor and New Yorker writer Ryan Lizza.[Political Wire]

Red States, Where Art Thou?

According to a new Smart Politics analysis, President Barack Obama has delivered 8 times the number of verbal statements in states he carried in 2008, compared to those won by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ). The study analyzed more than 500 addresses, speeches, and remarks made by the president. The majority of these statements (337), were delivered within the D.C., while only 15 such statements were delivered in states won by John McCain. [Smart Politics]

Changing Views And Gitmo

According to a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll, attitudes about the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba have changed dramatically since President Obama took office. Over the past 14 months, support for closing the detention center has dropped 12 points. Nearly 51 percent said they thought the facility should be closed shortly before Obama's inauguration. [CNN]

Oh, Fox News

On what is considered a historic day in Washington, all Fox News could think about was Vice President Joe Biden's comment to President Obama during the speech. The rundown: Vice President Biden turned to President Obama at this morning’s health care bill signing ceremony and whispered, “This is a big f—ing deal!” To distract from the historic signing, Fox News jumped on the comment via its Twitter account: Biden to Obama: "This is a big f—ing deal!” (and yes he used the full monty) #hcr. Classy, Fox. [TP]

Charity Begins At Home

President Obama received $1.4 milllion in prize money for winning the Nobel Peace Prize this year. While we'd probably blow the whole thing on iPhone apps and Mad Men Barbies, POTUS selected ten charities and divvied it all up among them. Among the chosen charities: The Bush-Clinton Haiti Fund ($200K), the Fisher House to benefit veterans' families ($250K), the Hispanic College Fund ($125K) and The Posse Foundation which finds public high school students with great potential but who may be overlooked by the traditional college selection process ($125K). Many of the promises are listed as "stalled," but still, not bad. [PolitiFact]
