HAPPY GUYS (AND GIRLS) FINISH THIRD

And here’s an amazing bit of research that will, at first, make you say, “huh?”  But then if you think about it a little more, it just might make some sense.

“Research by three U.S. academics, who analyzed heat-of-the-moment reactions, medal-stand temperament and interviews of Olympians, shows that bronze-medal winners, on average, are happier with their finishes than silver medalists. Take silver, and you tend to fixate on the near miss. Score bronze, and you are thankful you were not shut out altogether.”

Is That A Medal In Your Pocket Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?

Health officials distributed 100,000 condoms to visiting athletes in Vancouver this week, which may seem like a lot until you consider that when they offered 70,000 at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney...they ran out and came up 20,000 short. We'll crunch the numbers for you: With 7,000 athletes, coaches and trainers staying in the Olympic Villages, that works out to about 14 condoms per person. [Today Show]
